As a result of the high level of insecurity in the Imo state of Nigeria, it has led to a significant loss of lives and properties especially among the youth. The wave of violence had created an environment of fear and instability. Coupled with a high level of inflation in Nigerian, families are now living in extreme poverty
As a result of this, we have initiated the Eldercare Connect program as part of our social service which is aimed at addressing the urgent needs of vulnerable communities suffering from insecurity, violence, and neglect, by providing medical care, financial support, food supplies, counseling, and Spiritual care.
In September, we visited AZARA OBIATO VILLAGE in Mbaitoli LGA Imo State.
In total, we have seen 26 families, All the families we visited are living in extreme poverty, and some have lost their children as a result of this violence.
After our medical check, we observed that 80% are hypertensive and 65% are diabetic. We have made the necessary effort to provide them with appropriate medication and refer them to specialist hospitals for better management.
